Speaker Information: Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell

Personal and Business background

Mayor Longwell was born and raised in Wichita with five siblings. He was raised by a single mother on the west side. This gave him an appreciation for hard work, responsibility and set him up for a lifetime of
serving others.

His lifetime in Wichita and his service in nonprofit and government roles has given him great insight to both the history of a thriving Midwestern city and the long term needs of a community, including infrastructure investments which will allow for growth into the future.

Mayor Longwell raised three children in Wichita, and they continue to live in the area. His eldest, Angela, works with special needs students in the Maize schools. She is now in her eleventh year as a special needs Para. His eldest twin boy, Ryan, is an aerospace engineer working over nine years for NIAR (National Institute for Aviation Research) and the second twin, Bryan, is a geologist who just completed his Masters at Emporia State. He also plans to become a teacher.

Mayor Longwell started his career working fulltime in 1976 for a local, family-owned automotive business. By 1979, he had taken over as the Head of Operations. In 1983, he moved to a startup graphics company called Thermal Trade Graphics, overseeing five full time staff members. He grew his role into the General Manager Positon, and by 1995, the company employed over 75 people with a customer base that included all 50 states and some international business. The company was sold in 2008 and mayor Longwell started a small graphics company, Ad Astra Print Resources, which the Mayor ran until selling it in 2015.
