President's Report

I would like to start out by saying Thank You to our past President, Rachel Hoopes and the entire board for a great year.  We accomplished so much during the past year and it is due to our strong and active board members.  Some great things that were accomplished was providing a total of $3,500 in scholarships due to successful fundraisers; our financial literacy program hosted classes for the Girl Scout troops at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the young ladies at Carpenter’s Place; we held 9 membership meetings with engaging topics ranging from personal growth to education of our professions. Remarkable!

Please join me in thanking our board members and the committees for their dedication to AFWA.

As we start out our new year there are many exciting things planned, we hope you are just as excited about the future as we are.  Starting this month, our membership meeting will be on Active Shooters, how to respond to a situation – hoping none of us encounter such an event.  Next month, we are excited to host Trivia Night – with a Halloween twist.  We all look forward to this event and the involvement from not only members but others in our network.  We will wrap up our year with a tax update, as I have been told, a necessary evil.

Additionally, there are several opportunities to be involved in AFWA through planning membership meetings, social events and teaching financial literacy. Please, take the time to review the various committees and consider joining one this year. It there are things you believe AFWA should be doing, let us know!!!

Next time we will review the goals set forth by the Board of Directors.

I am looking forward to a rewarding year and hope to see you join a committee, and attend the various membership meetings and events.

Thank you,

Kate Grant

President 2018-2019
